Aluminum screws should be selected by alloy, temper and joint function — not by material name alone. Shi Shi Tong reviews customer drawings for custom aluminum fasteners, considering head geometry, thread requirements, finish and production quantity together. Volumes run on cold headers or turning machines, and finishes range from plain cleaned aluminum to anodized colour confirmed on an approved sample.

The value of aluminum is weight: roughly a third of steel at a strength that depends entirely on the alloy and temper chosen. That is why the design review starts from the reason for choosing aluminum — weight, heat transfer, conductivity, anodized appearance or a non-rusting surface — and then pairs the material with the geometry and thread engagement the joint actually needs.

Aluminum screws and standoffs across finishes — produced to drawing
Provide the exact material designation and condition required by the drawing. A higher nominal alloy strength does not automatically make a particular part better: 6061-T6 offers higher strength and machines and anodizes well; 6063 gives smoother forming and bright anodized finishes; 1100 and similar grades suit forming-heavy parts where strength is secondary. Specify the temper (for example T6 or T651) together with any mechanical or finish acceptance criteria so all three — alloy, temper and finish — are agreed before tooling.
Two differences drive the design. First, thread strength: aluminum threads are weaker than steel, so engagement length and boss diameter are planned with the mating material in mind. Second, galvanic behaviour: in wet service, aluminum in contact with steel, stainless or copper can corrode preferentially, so where those materials meet, isolation, plating or a different grade are considered together. Both points are checked against the actual environment rather than assumed.
Anodizing grows an oxide layer from the aluminum surface itself — so the colour is durable and part of the metal, in red, blue, purple, green, gold, black and other tones set by the process and confirmed on an acceptance sample. Because the oxide also builds on dimensions, fits with tight tolerances are dimensioned in the agreed condition (before or after anodizing), and hard anodizing is available where wear resistance is required.
Volume screws form on cold headers with tooling set for aluminum’s softer behaviour; stepped, drilled or machined bodies are turned from bar. Threads are formed or cut to the drawing, parts are cleaned, and colour — where specified — is applied by anodizing and matched to the approved sample before batch release.

Forming, thread rolling, machining and inspection operate in one workshop in Shenzhen, supporting the route defined for each drawing. See our factory.
The inspection agreement covers head and recess geometry, thread gauging, length and any mechanical requirement agreed for the alloy and temper. Dimensional checks on anodized parts are made in the condition stated on the drawing, and colour and surface are checked against the approved sample. Records are kept so repeat orders can be compared batch to batch.

Dimensional checks, thread gauges, hardness and torque testing are performed against the approved drawing, with records kept for repeat batches. Selected finishes are supported by in-house salt-spray testing. View certificates and sample reports.
Request documentation for the aluminum alloy and temper and the finish agreed for the order, together with any inspection records required. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified for the design and production of screws; our certificates and sample test reports are published on the quality documentation page.

Aluminum screws and matching aluminum hardware keep housings, panels and brackets light while carrying anodized colour as part of the design. Engagement length, boss design and the effect of the anodized layer on fits are agreed on the drawing so the assembly seats and stays tight in service.

Yes — anodizing builds colour from the aluminum surface itself (red, blue, purple, green, gold, black and more), confirmed on an acceptance sample.
