This plain stainless steel machine screw uses a broad truss head, a Phillips/slotted combination recess and a fully threaded right-hand shank. The wide head can cover the clearance opening in a panel or bracket while maintaining a relatively low profile. Its suitability depends on the specified bearing geometry and joint loads.
Truss heads are selected for their width as well as their height. Dimension head diameter, crown height and the underside contact profile. Compare these dimensions with the panel opening, neighboring features and available driver space; a wide head can create interference even when the thread size fits.
A larger visible head does not guarantee uniform support under load. Check the material beneath the bearing face, including slots, thin edges and unsupported spans. If a washer is needed, specify its dimensions and consider the additional stack height rather than assuming the head replaces it in every assembly.
Select the stainless steel grade for the working environment and required mechanical properties. The listed plain finish does not establish a polished appearance, passivation treatment or a particular corrosion-test result. State these requirements separately when they affect acceptance.
Identify thread diameter, pitch, tolerance and under-head length. The fully threaded shank is intended for a compatible nut or internal machine thread. For a blind tapped hole, account for incomplete threads and bottom clearance when determining the usable engagement.
Confirm whether the assembly process will use the Phillips interface or the slot. Check the matching tool on samples and keep sufficient clearance over the broad head. The recess must support the agreed installation requirements without damage that would prevent later removal.
Alongside thread gauging and length checks, inspect head diameter, seating geometry and recess dimensions. A large head on a small threaded shank makes alignment and bearing-face condition relevant to assembly. Any concentricity or runout requirement should be dimensioned and assigned an acceptance method.

Will this screw sit flush with a panel?
The truss head remains above the surface. Check its projection and use a different head arrangement if the design needs a flush exterior.
Can the same screw tap its own hole?
This version has a machine thread. A self-tapping requirement needs a separately specified thread form and receiving-hole design.
Does stainless steel eliminate all corrosion concerns?
Grade, environment, surface condition and contact with other materials matter. Specify the exposure conditions during material selection.
Where the head is exposed on the finished product, agree acceptable appearance as well as functional fit. Inspect samples in the assembled position, then retain the accepted grade, head profile, recess and finish requirements for repeat production. Protect visible surfaces during packing and handling.
Send the screw drawing, quantity and stainless grade requirement. Include panel thickness, clearance-opening details and maximum head dimensions when the broad bearing profile is central to the design.
