This stainless steel machine screw uses a low-profile Phillips head and a full machine thread, supplied plain. It is intended for designs where the head projection must fit within a limited assembly envelope — inside covers, beside moving parts, or where surfaces must stay close to flush. The final head diameter, recess geometry and thread dimensions are established from the part drawing.

A thin head and a Phillips recess pull in opposite directions: the recess needs depth, and the head has little material to give. Everything else — head diameter, thread size, length — follows the assembly. Getting a thin-head screw right is mostly about budgeting the little height the head has between the bearing face and the recess bottom.

Show the maximum permitted projection above the mounting surface and the radial clearance around the head, and include nearby parts — a hinge, a moving element or a mating cover. Where the head must sit in a counterbore, the recess diameter and depth are stated together with the head so the screw seats as intended.
The Phillips recess consumes head material. Recess size and depth are dimensioned against the head thickness so enough material remains under the recess for the driving torque, and the intended driver is checked against the finished recess. Where the head is unusually thin, the drawing states the minimum remaining material under the recess rather than leaving it to the standard recess form.
The screw is supplied in stainless steel in the plain (natural, cleaned) condition, with no coating over the head or thread. The grade is stated on the drawing together with any documentation required for the order.
Threads are produced to the drawing, typically 6g for external metric threads and verified with GO/NO-GO gauges. The head, recess and thread share one axis, so head-to-thread alignment comes from the forming operation; the drawing defines the runout requirement where the head must sit visually true.
The thin head and its Phillips recess are formed in a single-die cold-heading operation; the thread is rolled, and the parts are cleaned for the natural finish before inspection and packing.

The inspection agreement covers the head diameter and thickness, the recess verified with the intended driver, and thread gauging. Material remaining under the recess is checked on the approved sample, and records are kept so repeat orders can be compared batch to batch.

Thin covers, panels beside moving parts and nested assemblies where the head projection must stay within a strict envelope. The available head height, radial clearance and driver access are agreed on the drawing, and the recess is confirmed against the intended driver on the sample.
