Nickel-plated machine screws are often selected where the visible finish matters alongside the threaded connection. A quotation that says only “nickel plated” leaves appearance, coating requirements and finished-part acceptance open to interpretation.
This configuration uses carbon steel, a Phillips recess and a partially threaded, right-hand machine thread. The head is designated PF in the product specification; its profile and dimensions need to be defined by the drawing rather than inferred from that abbreviation.
Two plated parts can look different even when both are described as nickel. Where the screw is visible next to trim or another metal component, a colour description alone may not capture the appearance the customer expects.
How we help: Shi Shi Tong can use an agreed reference sample and written appearance criteria in the sample approval discussion. Identify the visible surfaces and unacceptable defects so inspection has a practical reference. This helps purchasing and production teams judge the same finish rather than relying on separate impressions of “bright” or “silver.”
The required fit is the fit of the screw as supplied, including its surface treatment. A machining or forming dimension alone does not describe the acceptance condition of the plated external thread.
How we help: We review the thread designation and finished-part gauging requirement with the drawing. Where the mating component is critical, include it in sample approval. This connects the nickel-finish requirement with the functional interface instead of treating plating and thread fit as unrelated purchasing items.
The smooth section and thread runout can affect where the screw starts engaging the nut or tapped part. Ordering only diameter and total length may leave this transition undefined, even if the supplied coating looks correct.
How we help: We review the plain length, usable threaded length and mating position together. If the PF head sits in a pocket or on a shaped surface, provide a section through that seat as well. That lets the sample address both the head contact and the thread engagement required by your assembly.
An attractive nickel finish does not establish a service life, a particular salt-spray result or suitability for every exposure. If corrosion testing or material documentation is required, the method and acceptance criteria should be stated in the order specification.
Configuration for inquiry: carbon steel; nickel plating; PF head profile to drawing; Phillips drive; partial right-hand machine thread. Include the steel grade, mechanical requirements, thread diameter and pitch, head dimensions, plain length and any coating requirement. Do not use the PF label as a substitute for a dimensioned head section.
For a plated screw, our manufacturing review considers the finished part required by the customer. The head section, partial thread and nickel finish need a shared drawing and sample reference so production does not rely on an appearance label alone.

An agreed plan can include finished-thread gauging, head and length measurements, and comparison with the approved plated sample. Any coating test or report must be identified separately. The displayed 99.8% company-wide pass rate is not a claim of corrosion performance for this screw.

Certified scope: design and production of screws. We review material and product-specific documentation against your order requirements.

Customers can bring the mating component and a finish reference when discussing nickel-plated hardware. These two references help our team separate a cosmetic mismatch from a dimensional fit problem and agree what the replacement sample must demonstrate.
These figures describe company-wide customer cooperation.
Can a photo define the required plating appearance?
A photo can explain the concern, but lighting changes how a finish looks. For appearance-sensitive work, agree a physical reference and written acceptance criteria where practical.
Is a salt-spray duration included automatically?
No universal duration is promised here. Specify the required test and acceptance result so feasibility and documentation can be reviewed for the order.
What does PF tell me about the head?
It is the designation used for this configuration, not a complete dimensional standard in this listing. Provide head diameter, height and the bearing profile needed by the assembly.
Share the drawing, nickel-finish requirement, mating thread, order quantity and appearance reference. We can discuss the finished-part inspection and sample requirements before quoting repeat supply.
